Wendy Hogue was a student at JCJC from 1992-94 and played softball under coach Gwen Magee.

She was an all-state player in 1994, was an Academic All-American, Who’s Who among American Junior Colleges, a member of Phi Theta Kappa and an active member of the Baptist Student Union.

Hogue played on the first William Carey University softball team in 1995 under current Baylor head coach Glenn Moore. She excelled on and off the field at William Carey. She received the Hustle Award, Leadership Award and had the most stolen bases. 

She received the David Holbrook Award for Academic Excellence in Athletics. She was an active member of the BSU and vice-president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from William Carey.

Hogue began her coaching career at Petal High School in 1998 as an assistant coach for slow-pitch softball. She became the first fast-pitch coach at Petal in 2000. She served five years as head coach and her teams made the playoffs each year, winning two district titles.

She spent 10 years as head coach at William Carey, leading the program to six NAIA National Tournament appearances and a runner-up finish in the 2014 tournament. She was the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Coach of the Year in 2009 and the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Coach of the Year in 2011. She was the East Region Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011.

In 2011, she led William Carey to a 54-8 record, a No. 2 national ranking and an appearance in the NAIA Tournament.

She is a member of the Mississippi Association of Coaches, the MHSAA, NFCA, NFCA All-America Committee and conference chair.

Hogue resigned in May 2019 from Southern Miss after five seasons, collecting a record of 124-146 during her tenure. The squad earned a share of the Conference USA West Division championship, and, as well as the 2019 season, saw the Golden Eagles reach the 30-win plateau.

She is married to her husband, Eric, and they have a daughter, Kinley Grace.
