Hall of Fame
Joey Davis was an athletic trainer at Jones from 1979-81 and was a part of the 1979 state championship football team.
Davis went on to receive the Reed Green Scholarship at Southern Miss and was the head student trainer. He received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s in history from USM.
Davis returned to Jones in 1985 and began teaching Western Civilization, Athletic Training and Weightlifting and was head athletic trainer for all sports.
He retired as athletic trainer after the 2008 season, but continues to teach several Western Civilization classes. He began the HPR 2443 “Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries” class at JCJC.
Davis was elected to the Mississippi Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 2010, was named the Social Science Scholar of the Year in 2014, was a Faculty of the Year nominee in 2001 and Lamplighter in 2013.
He was named the Mississippi Athletic Trainer of the Year in 1998 and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association. He served as student trainer at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, in 1984-85.
He was a part of the 1998 and 2001 state championship football teams and the 2002 state championship baseball team.
Davis has been involved in numerous activities on campus and in the Jones County community for over 30 years.
Davis has three children: Brad Davis, Haley Easterling (Koby) and Allie Davis.
