Dr. Joe-Michael Robertson was an All-American, All-Region and All-State defensive player at JCJC.

He was chosen as the NJCAA’s Male Athlete of the Year in 1994, was an Academic All-American and a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

JCJC went 9-2-1 in Robertson’s freshman year. They ended defending state champion Northwest’s 15-game winning streak with a 17-7 victory at Bush-Young Stadium. The Bobcats dropped a 21-20 heartbreaker to Mississippi Delta in the state championship game and then received an invitation to the Texas Shrine Bowl in Tyler, Texas, where they battled national powerhouse Navarro Junior College (Texas) to a 20-20 tie. Robertson had a blocked extra point in the game.

JCJC would post an 8-2 record in 1994 and Robertson was chosen to participate in the MACJC All-Star Game.

He attended Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., and received his doctorate in Pharmacy. 

Dr. Robertson then purchased Catfish One in 2000 and has overseen the company grow from one to over 40 restaurants across the southeastern United States. In 2004, Catfish One was selected as the Small Business of the Year by the Economic Development Authority of Jones County. Also that year, Dr. Robertson was awarded the inaugural Cornerstone Humanitarian Award by the National Restaurant Association, which honors restaurant owners for the contributions to communities.

In 2005, Catfish One was selected by the Mississippi Business Journal as a member of the “Fast Forty,” honoring the restaurant as one of Mississippi’s fastest growing businesses. In 2006, Dr. Robertson was chosen by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders in the state.

He has been actively involved in local church and youth activities for years.

Dr. Robertson and his wife, Jennifer, have three children – Josie, Neeley and Tristyn.
