Randall Boone came to Jones County to play basketball out of Sharon High School.
Boone received scholarship offers from the University of Southern Mississippi and Jones County Junior College.
Because of Coach A.B. Howard, he chose JCJC. He earned All-State honors at JCJC, scoring 972 points for an average of 24 points per game during his two-year career. After JCJC he received a scholarship to Mississippi College.Â
While in the Army, he was also selected to play for the Ft. Sam Houston basketball team.
Boone coached basketball and football for five years before entering the insurance industry – qualifying as a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He retired after 25 years as Vice President for Physicians Mutual Insurance Company. Â
He and his wife of 54 years, Sue Gandy Boone, live on their farm in the Sharon community. They have three sons: Randy, Ricki, and Rocky, and six grandchildren.
