Jones College's athletic trainers and medical staff play a major role in maintaining the health and physical well-being of all JC student-athletes. The staff is committed to the prevention, evaluation, care and rehabilitation of injuries while working with personnel in physical therapy and strength and conditioning.
The Sports Medicine department is run by Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. The department provides medical care and treatment to more than 220 Bobcat athletes representing nine sports.Â
The athletic training staff is led by director of sports medicine Stephanie Smith.Â
The athletic training staff is one support group that the athletic teams cannot do without. They are responsible for staffing all practices and games as well as handling the day-to-day treatment and rehabilitation of injured or post-surgery student-athletes.
The goal of the sports medicine department is not only to care for the injuries, but also to assist the student-athletes in preventing injuries from occurring.
