ELLISVILLE – Eighth-ranked Jones College piled up the runs in game one of a doubleheader here Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The Bobcats blasted Northeast 26-3 in seven innings in the opener. It was a different type of game in the nightcap, but Jones prevailed, 3-1.
The Bobcats are now 33-9 overall and 15-5 in the MACCC. Jones goes to Meridian on April 17 and Mississippi Delta on April 20.
The Tigers fall to 22-21 overall and 8-12 in conference play. The Tigers visit Holmes on April 17.
Jones 26, Northeast 3 (7 inn.)
Ten Bobcats combined for 16 hits and Jones took advantage of 13 walks and seven hit batsmen to rout the Tigers.
Leading 3-1 after one inning, Jones sent 17 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs to take a 14-0 lead. Twelve consecutive batters reached base in the inning. In the third inning the Bobcats sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs to take a 22-0 lead.
Wade Fulton (Brandon) went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, single, three RBIs and five runs scored.
Brady Thomas (Brandon) and
Evan Rogers (Northwest Rankin) each doubled, singled and had three RBIs.
Marquette Gibson (D'Iberville) and
Colton Hegwood (Brandon) both had two singles.

Gatlin Sanders (Madison Central),
Jace Lott (Greene County) and
Austin Mills (Lafayette, Louisiana) added singles.
Micah Daniell (Oak Grove) went the first 3.0 innings, allowed no runs, three hits and struck out four.
Charlee Strickland (Northeast Jones) pitched 2.0 innings, allowed two earned runs, two hits and struck out two.
Garrett Pound (Pontotoc) tossed the final 2.0 innings and was credited with the win, giving up no runs, one hit and notching three strikeouts.

Four Bobcat pitchers combined to give up just four hits as Jones completed the sweep.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the second when
Hays Carley (Columbia Academy) walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a
Josh King (DeSoto Central) triple to left center.
Jones added two runs in the fifth when Fulton and Sanders were hit by pitches and both advanced on a double steal. A Rogers' sacrifice fly to left scored Fulton and Hegwood singled to center to score Sanders.
Conner McKnatt homered in the sixth for NEMCC to cut the lead to 3-1.
In the top of the seventh, a walk, single and hit batsman loaded the bases with no outs for the Tigers.
But Thomas rebounded and struck out the next three to end the game and record his sixth save.
Starter
Eli Walker (Gulfport) went 2.1 innings, allowed no runs, one hit and struck out one.
Brandon Rhodes (St. Stanislaus) went the next 2.2 innings and was credited with the victory. He gave up one run, two hits, walked two and struck out one as he improved to 2-0.
Trent Hillen (Morgan City, Louisiana) went 1.0 inning, walked two and struck out two.
Fulton singled twice, King tripled and Hegwood singled for the Bobcats.
