PHILADELPHIA – A strong second round performance helped Jones College to a fourth-place tie in the Chris Clark Invitational here Tuesday at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club.
The Bobcats improved 14 shots in round two, posting a 319-305 – 624 (48-over par) which tied them with tournament host East Central. Jones was in ninth-place after round one.
Bastian Graf (Germany) led the Bobcats with a 74-73 – 147, 3-over par, which tied him for second place individually. He was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Julius Hautmann (Germany) posted an 80-78 – 158, while
Josh Tombs (England) had an 83-77 – 160 for Jones.
Evan Bass (Hattiesburg) fired an 84-80 – 164 and
Walker Hall (Wayne Academy) had an 83-85 – 168.
Meridian won the 12-team tournament with a 602 (26-over par). That was nine shots better than Gulf Coast, which posted a 611. Copiah-Lincoln was third with a 619.
Meridian's Daniel Young was tournament medalist with a 73-71 – 144, even-par. Graf and Gulf Coast's Jayden Owensby tied for second with a 75-72 – 147. Northeast's Olof Behle and Gulf Coast's Logan Jensen tied for fourth with a 149.
The next tournament will be the Lou Hart Invitational March 23-24 at Northwood Country Club in Meridian.
