BRANDON – Jones College finished fifth in the NJCAA Division II Gulf South District Tournament here at Castlewoods Country Club.
Jones fired a 296-306-305 – 907 (43-over par) in the 54-hole event, which was played Monday through Wednesday.
Mississippi Gulf Coast won the tournament with an 863 (1-under par) followed by Meridian and Hinds at 891 and Northeast at 900. East Central was sixth at 911.
Individually,
Julius Hautmann led the Bobcats with a 75-77-71 – 223, 7-over par, which tied him for 10th place.
Josh Tombs posted a 74-74-76 – 224, which tied him for 12th place.
Evan Bass shot a 72-77-80 – 229 and
Bastian Graf posted a 77-78-78 – 233.
Drew Groscost shot a 75-79-81 – 235.
There was a five-way tie for tournament medalist between Copiah-Lincoln's Max Seidemann, MGCCC's Logan Jensen and Jayden Owensby, Northeast's Olof Behle and Hinds' Stephen Faucheaux. They all shot a 217, 1-over par. They were named to the All-Tournament Team.
MGCCC and Hinds (by virtue of a tiebreaker over Meridian) earned berths into the NJCAA Division II Tournament in Plymouth, Ind., May 19-22. Meridian has a chance at an at-large bid.
