CORINTH – The Jones College men's golf program made history in two ways on Tuesday at the 2026 Northeast Fall Invitational.
The Bobcats won their first-ever tournament as an NJCAA Division II program and did so by defeating two-time national champion Mississippi Gulf Coast in a playoff.
Both tied at 11-under-par after 54 holes, all five Bobcat golfers and all five MGCCC golfers went out and played the first hole with the top four scores registering. The Bulldogs finished with three pars and a bogey (1-over) and Jones had two pars and two birdies (2-under) to win the playoff.
Meridian finished just one shot behind the leaders at 10-under to take third place. Northeast Mississippi was fourth at 7-under, followed by East Central at 5-over.
The Bobcats at one point were in fourth place in the final round but made up the entire deficit over the closing 18 holes. Jones' 3-under final round, combined with Gulf Coast's 10-under round, left the two teams deadlocked at the top of the leaderboard after three rounds.
Oban Webber led Jones individually, finishing tied for fifth at 5-under. Webber opened the tournament with a 4-under round and followed with a 2-under second round before closing at 1-over.
Julius Hautmann gave the Bobcats another top-10 finish, placing seventh at 4-under. After an even-par opening round, Hautmann shot 1-under in the second and finished with a 3-under final round.
Jax Poole tied for 13th at 1-under, providing Jones with another counting score throughout the event. Poole shot 2-under in the opening round, 3-over in the second and bounced back with a 2-under closing round.
Pelle Fox tied for 26th at 6-over after rounds of 4-over, 1-over and 1-over, while Mack Hutson tied for 41st at 14-over. Matthew Eubank, competing as an individual for Jones, also tied for 41st at 14-over.
Meridian's Jackson Autry earned individual medalist honors at 11-under, four shots ahead of Mississippi Gulf Coast's Paul Hoefer at 7-under.
The last tournament win for Jones came in 2004 -- also in Corinth -- as an NJCAA Division III program at Hillandale Golf Course.
