MERIDIAN – Jones College placed sixth in a 13-team field at the Jim Redgate Invitational that concluded Tuesday at Briarwood Golf Club.
Jones posted rounds of 8-over, 6-over and 14-over during the 54-hole event, finishing one shot ahead of seventh place Hinds and nine shots behind fifth place Northeast.
Mississippi Gulf Coast ran away with the team championship at 33-under, finishing 34 shots clear of runner-up East Central at 1-over. Host Meridian finished third at 2-over, followed by Northwest Mississippi (+9), Northeast (+23) and Jones (+28).
Julius Hautmann led the Bobcats with a 2-over finish to tie for 17th individually. Hautmann opened with consecutive 1-under rounds before closing at 4-over.
Oban Webber joined Hautmann inside the top 30, tying for 26th at 6-over. Webber carded rounds of 4-over, even par and 2-over.
Playing as an individual, Mack Hutson finished 30th at 7-over after rounds of even par, 2-over and 5-over.
Pelle Fox tied for 40th at 12-over. He improved throughout the tournament, following an opening 7-over round with scores of 2-over and 3-over.
Matthew Eubank tied for 42nd at 13-over with rounds of 3-over, 5-over and 5-over, while Jax Poole tied for 46th at 14-over after posting rounds of 2-over, 5-over and 7-over.
Mississippi Gulf Coast's Paul Hoefer earned medalist honors at 11-under, edging teammate Logan Jensen by one shot. Hoefer shot 3-under, 5-under and 3-under over his three rounds, while Jensen finished at 10-under.
Jones has a three-week break before returning to the golf course Oct. 26-27 in Gulfport for the Charles Cooper Classic hosted by MGCCC.
