DECATUR, Ala. – Jones College finished fifth in the Calhoun Spring Classic here Tuesday at Burningtree Country Club.
The Bobcats posted a 304-294-298 – 896 in the 54-hole event.
Shelton State and tournament host Calhoun Community College tied for the top spot at 875. Wallace State was third at 885 and Snead State was fourth at 891 in the 14-team tournament. Northwest was the only other MACCC team in the tournament and the Rangers finished ninth with a 911.
Individually, freshman
Julius Hautmann (Germany) led the Bobcats with a 71-72-74 – 217, 1-over par. That was good enough for a tie for sixth place.
Bastian Graf (Germany) shot a 77-72-74 – 223 and sophomore
Josh Tombs (England) posted an 80-71-73 – 224. Sophomore
Drew Groscost (Lewisburg) fired a 76-79-77 – 232 and freshman
Matthew Eubank (Petal) posted an 86-80-77 – 243.
Trenton Ables of Wallace was tournament medalist with a 68-76-68 – 212, 4-under par. Reid Larson of Shelton State was second with a 72-73-69 – 214, 2-under par.
That was the final regular season match for Jones.
The Bobcats will compete next in the MACCC Championship April 13-14 at The Club at Ole Brook in Brookhaven.
