DIAMONDHEAD – Jones College finished fourth in the Pearl River Invitational held Monday-Tuesday here at Diamondhead Country Club.
The Bobcats posted a 316-307 – 623 in the 36-hole event.
Sophomore
Drew Groscost (Lewisburg) led Jones with a 75-71 – 146, 2-over par. He tied for fourth place and made the All-Tournament Team.
Other Bobcats competing were
Julius Hautmann (Germany), who posted a 77-77 – 154 and tied for 13th place;
Bastian Graf (Germany), who shot an 85-77 – 162;
Josh Tombs (England), who fired an 81-82 – 163;
Walker Hall (Wayne Academy), who shot a 78-87 – 165 while playing as an independent; and
Evan Bass, who posted an 83-84 – 167.
Mississippi Gulf Coast won the 12-team tournament with a 589. Meridian was second with a 613, East Central was third with a 616 and Itawamba was fifth with a 630.
Meridian's Dax Reaux was tournament medalist with a 72-71 – 143, 1-under par. That was one stroke better than MGCCC's Paul Hoefer with a 72-72 – 144, even par. MGCCC's Cal Wier was third with a 74-71 – 145 and East Central's Sam Arthur tied Groscost for fourth with a 70-76 –146.
The next tournament will be the Tommy Snell Invitational, which will be held Feb. 25-26 at the Sunkist Country Club in Biloxi.
