MERIDIAN – Jones College finished fifth in the Lou Hart Invitational here Tuesday at Northwood Country Club.
The Bobcats shot a 296-303 – 599 in the 12-team event. Jones was tied for third after Monday's first round.
Mississippi Gulf Coast edged Meridian by one stroke to win the title. The Bulldogs shot a 577 and the Eagles had a 578. Hinds was third at 582, followed by Northeast at 596.
It was the final MACCC regular season tournament of the season.
Freshman
Julius Hautmann (Germany) led Jones with a 70-75 – 145, 3-over par, which tied him for seventh place. Sophomore
Drew Groscost (Lewisburg) posted a 70-77 – 147 and freshman
Matthew Eubank (Petal), playing as an individual, shot a 74-77 – 151. Sophomore
Josh Tombs (England) had a 78-75 – 153 and freshman
Bastian Graf (Germany) had a 78-78 – 156. Sophomore
Walker Hall (Wayne Academy) shot an 85-79 – 164.
Individually, Meridian's Daniel Young and MGCCC's Jayden Owensby tied for the top spot with Young claiming medalist honors on the second playoff hole. Young posted a 69-69 – 138, 4-under par, and Owensby had a 64-74 – 138.
Stephen Faucheaux of Hinds, Jace Ducksworth of Meridian and Christopher Cain of Hinds each made the All-Tournament Team.
The Bobcats will participate in the Calhoun Spring Classic at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, Ala., March 30-31.
The MACCC Championship will take place April 13-14 in Brookhaven at The Club at Ole Brook.
