Makynlie Jones named NFCA NJCAA Division II Player of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the student-athletes chosen for this season's quartet of NFCA NJCAA Division II major awards.

Jones College's Makynlie Jones has been named the NFCA NJCAA Division II Player of the Year, a first in program history.

The Bobcats have boasted four NJCAA Players of the Year in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 but never an NFCA POTY until Jones.

The sophomore from Vardaman hit .445 with 19 doubles, three triples, 26 homers, 77 runs and a division-leading 103 RBIs for the (52-10) Bobcats, who finished as national runner-up. Jones' RBI tied for the third-highest total across all three NJCAA divisions, while her homers ranked second in Division II. She ranked third nationally in total bases (205) and seventh in plate appearances (246) and hits (102).

Jones was also named the MACCC Player of the Year, NJCAA First Team All-American and First Team All-MACCC.

The awards are voted on by the elected members of the NFCA NJCAA Division II All-American Committee with two head coaches representing each of the three NJCAA Division II regions. To be eligible, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member.

The NFCA is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded awards program, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to and extensive drills database, to in-person events and National Convention
