TUNICA – Jones College finished fourth in the MACCC Fall Preview here Tuesday at Tunica National Golf Club.
It was the opening MACCC Tournament of the fall season, hosted by East Mississippi.
The Bobcats shot a 618 for the two-day event. After posting a 311 on Monday, Jones improved by four shots with a 307 on Tuesday.
Meridian won the 11-team event with a 595, followed by Copiah-Lincoln at 613 and Northeast at 615.
Individually, Jones was led by freshman
Drew Groscost of Lewisburg. He posted a 74-76 – 150 and tied for third. He was named to the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore
Sebastian Nowak of Germany fired a 77-74 – 151 and tied for sixth. East Central sophomore
Connor Phillips shot a 79-79 – 158 and Josh Tombs, a freshman from England, posted an 81-78 – 159. Wayne Academy freshman
Walker Hall, playing as an individual, shot an 84-82 – 166 and South Jones sophomore
Jacob Creel had an 87-89 – 176.
Meridian's Bruce McClung was tournament medalist with a 72-70 – 142, 2-under par. Co-Lin's Oscar Toreld was second with a 75-74 – 149.
The next tournament will be the Copiah-Lincoln Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Brookhaven Country Club.
