The eighth-ranked Bobcats eliminated No. 1 East Central 6-4 here Thursday afternoon at Dub Herring Park. Later, No. 3 LSU Eunice eliminated tournament host and second-ranked Pearl River, 10-0, in six innings.
Weather permitting, the Bobcats (41-15) and Bengals (51-7) will meet at 2 p.m. Friday. Jones will have to beat LSUE twice to win the championship. Jones' last region championship came in 2016 when the Bobcats went on to win the NJCAA Division II World Series.
In Thursday's win over the top-ranked Warriors, Jones trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning.
Gavin Brassfield led off with a walk and took second on
Cole Manuel's ground out.
Marquette Gibson's single to left-center scored Brassfield. After
Hays Carley walked,
Brady Thomas singled to load the bases.
A failed pickoff attempt by the catcher to first base allowed Gibson to score on the throwing error to tie the game at 4-4 and put runners on second and third.
Wade Fulton's sacrifice fly to right scored Carley with the go-ahead run and a
Gatlin Sanders' single drove in the final run.
The Warriors went in order in the seventh and had two on with one out in the eighth, but a double play ended the threat.
In the ninth,
Brice Deaton retired the side in order with a pair of strikeouts to end it.
The Bobcats scored twice in the second inning to go up 2-0, but ECCC took the lead with three runs in the fourth and one in the sixth.
Deaton tossed the final 4.0 innings and got the win to improve to 4-1. He allowed no runs, three hits, walked two and struck out two. Starter
Eli Walker went 3.0 innings, allowed two runs (one earned), one hit, walked two and struck out one.
Micah Daniell followed Walker to the mound and pitched 2.0 innings.

Evan Rogers, Brassfield and Gibson each getting a single.
Kamryn Carlisle pitched to one batter in the sixth, walked him and was charged with the loss.
