MERIDIAN – The Jones College Bobcats finished fourth in the Jim Redgate Invitational here Monday and Tuesday at Briarwood Golf Club.
Jones improved 14 shots during Tuesday's second round. The Bobcats posted a 305-291 – 596 to finish just two shots out of second place in the 11-team tournament.
Mississippi Gulf Coast won the event with a 292-289 – 581. Tournament host Meridian (293-301) and East Central (295-299) tied for second at 594.
Individually,
Connor Phillips (East Central) and
Sebastian Nowak (Germany) tied for seventh to lead the Bobcats. Phillips had a 73-74 – 147 and Nowak had a 76-71 – 147.
Joshua Tombs (England) had an 81-72 – 153,
Drew Groscost (Lewisburg) shot an 81-74 – 155,
Harvey Taylor (England) posted a 75-82 – 157 and
Walker Hall (Wayne Academy) shot an 84-80 – 164 playing as an individual.
MGCCC's Stanley Campbell was tournament medalist with a 72-69 – 141. East Central's Will Thompson (70-72) and Meridian's Bruce McClung (73-69) tied for second one stroke back at 142.
Jones will host Pearl River in a 2 p.m. dual match on Oct. 14 at Laurel Country Club.
The next MACCC event will be the Hinds Invitational Oct. 21-22 at Castlewoods Country Club in Brandon.
