BRANDON – Jones College finished third in the Hinds Invitational here Tuesday at Castlewoods Country Club.
The Bobcats shot a 292-315 – 607 in the two-day, 12-team event. Top-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast won the event with a 1-under par 575. No. 8 East Central was second with a 606.
Drew Groscost, a freshman from Lewisburg, shot a 68-76 – 144 (even par) and was third overall. He was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Sebastian Nowak, a sophomore from Germany, posted a 72-80 – 152.
Harvey Taylor, a freshman from England, shot a 77-81 – 158.
Connor Phillips, a sophomore from East Central, posted an 82-78 – 160.
Maverick Johnson, a sophomore from West Harrison playing as an individual, posted a 79-83 – 162.
Joshua Tombs, a freshman from England, shot a first round 75, but was unable to complete Tuesday's round because of an injury.
MGCCC's Peyton Russell was medalist with a 66-70 – 136, 6-under par. East Central's Paul Swanepoel was second with a 73-70 – 143.
The Bobcats will conclude the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule in the MGCCC Invitational Oct. 28-29 at Windance Country Club in Gulfport.
