POPLARVILLE – The No. 7 Jones College Bobcats posted two thrilling road wins at No. 5 Pearl River here Tuesday at Dub Herring Park.
In game one, the Bobcats held off PRCC 9-8 and in game two, Jones posted a 6-5 decision.
The Bobcats are now 34-8 overall and 19-7 in the MACJC and will end regular season play with a 4 p.m. Friday doubleheader at home vs. East Mississippi.
Jones will host a best-of-three playoff series on May 9-10 vs. an opponent to be determined.
Pearl River falls to 32-11 and 17-9. The Wildcats host Northwest on Friday.
Currently in the MACJC, Itawamba is 22-4, Northwest is 20-6, Jones is 19-7, Pearl River is 17-9 and Mississippi Gulf Coast and Meridian are both 16-10.
The regular season MACJC champion will host the Region 23 Tournament May 15-18.

Leading 6-4 going into the seventh inning, Jones came up with three runs to take a five-run cushion.
Blake Johnson (Gulfport) led off with a single,
Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) had a one-out single and
Chase Tilghman (West Lauderdale) loaded the bases with a single.
Trace Henry (Mooreville) delivered a two-run double and
Robbie Woody's (Madison Central) sacrifice fly brought in the final run.
Jones was up 9-8 in the bottom of the ninth and Pearl River had runners at first and second with two outs. But reliever
Payton Harris (Oak Grove) got a strikeout to end the game.
Starter
Lane Thomas (Walker, Louisiana) went 5.0 innings and got the win to improve to 8-1. He gave up four runs, five hits, walked four and struck out five.
Harris posted his fourth save. He went the final 1.2 innings, allowing a run, three hits, walking two and striking out two.
Hunter Eldridge (West Lauderdale) followed Thomas to the hill. He pitched 1.1 innings and gave up three runs (two earned), three hits and walked two.
Henry and
Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) doubled and singled twice with Tilghman getting three singles.
O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) doubled and singled and Johnson had two singles. Woody and Mason each singled.
Henry, Hale and Burgos each drove in two runs.
Starter Colin Danley – the first of four PRCC pitchers – got the loss. He gave up six runs (four earned), nine hits, walked two and struck out one.
Shemar Page doubled and singled twice for PRCC.
The Wildcats led 3-1 after two innings and 3-2 after three. Jones led 4-3 after five, 6-4 after six, 9-5 after seven and 9-7 after eight.

The Bobcats broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the top of the sixth.
Steven Sasser (South Jones) led off with a walk, took second on a sacrifice by Henry and advance to third on a Woody single. Hale singled to right to drive in Sasser.
In the bottom of the seventh, Noah Barron got a leadoff single and was sacrificed to second. But reliever
Coleton Ausbern (Nettleton) got a pair of groundouts to end the game and pick up his second save.
Starter
Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) went 4.1 innings, giving up five runs (three earned), three hits and seven walks. He had six strikeouts.
Reliever DJ Alexander (Gretna, Louisiana) went 1.2 innings and got the win to go to 1-0 on the year. He gave up no runs, one hit and one walk.
Bailee Hendon (Vancleave) doubled and singled for the Bobcats with Henry, Woody and Johnson getting two singles each. Hale, Burgos and Sasser added singles.
Starter Miles Smith went five-plus innings and took the loss. He gave up six runs, eight hits, walked four and struck out four. Jerod Meggs pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs, four hits and recording four strikeouts.
Austin Izzio homered and Matt Taylor singled twice for the Wildcats.
Jones led 1-0 after one, the game was tied 1-1 after two and PRCC led 2-1 after three. The game was tied 4-4 after four and 5-5 after five.
