DECATUR – No. 7 Jones College dropped a doubleheader to East Central Community College here Tuesday at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex.
The Warriors took game one, 5-4, and captured game two, 6-2.
The Bobcats, 21-7 overall and 6-6 in the MACJC, visit Southwest Mississippi for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on April 10.
ECCC, 14-12 and 7-5, hosts Northeast Mississippi on Saturday.
Warriors 5, No. 7 Bobcats 4
Jones trailed 4-0 entering the eighth, but their rally came up a run short.
In the top of the eighth,
Robbie Woody (Madison Central) was hit by a pitch to start the inning and
Bailee Hendon (Vancleave) followed with an RBI double.
Blake Johnson's (Gulfport) single made it 4-2. But a line out, ground out and pop out ended the inning.
Trailing 5-2 going into the ninth, Jones got a leadoff single from
Gabe Lacy (Gulfport).
Kirkland Trahan (Madison Central) drew a walk and
Trace Henry (Mooreville) reached on a fielder's choice. Woody's double scored Lacy and Hendon drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left.
But a fly out ended the contest.
Lacy doubled and singled and Johnson singled twice for the Bobcats. Woody and Hendon doubled with Henry,
Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) and
Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) adding singles.
Starter
Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) went five innings and took the loss. Brune, 2-2, allowed three runs (two earned), five hits, walked three and struck out eight.
Payton Harris (Oak Grove) tossed two innings, allowing one run, four hits, two walks and recording three strikeouts.
Hunter Eldridge (West Lauderdale) pitched an inning, allowed one run, one hit, one walk and notching a strikeout.
George Farid doubled and had three singles for East Central.
Starter Javian Stone when 6.1 innings and got the win. He gave up no runs, five hits, walked two and struck out four. Thomas Boothe pitched the ninth inning and got the save.

Jones could only come up with four hits in game two.
Down 1-0 in the third inning, the Bobcats tied the game when
Steven Sasser (South Jones) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Warriors led 3-1 in the fifth inning when Hale scored on a passed ball to make it 3-2.
Jones had a baserunner in the sixth, but hit into a double play to end the inning. In the seventh, the Bobcats had two on with one out, but a fly out and a line out ended the game.
Hendon,
O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy), Hale and Lacy each singled for the Bobcats.
Johnson started, went 2.0 innings and got the loss. Johnson, 0-1, allowed three runs (two earned), two hits, walked four and struck out four.
Coleton Ausbern (Nettleton) went 3.1 innings, allowed three runs (two earned), five hits, walked one and struck out two. DJ Alexander (Gretna, Louisiana) tossed .2 innings, giving up no runs, one hit and recorded a strikeout.
Dakota Kennedy had three singles for East Central.
Braxton Rose, one of four ECCC pitchers, was credited with the victory. He pitched 1.2 innings, allowed no runs, one hit, walked two and struck out one.
