No. 7 Bobcats sweep Mississippi Gulf Coast

ELLISVILLE – No. 7 Jones College posted a big conference sweep over Mississippi Gulf Coast here Wednesday at Community Bank Park.
Kirkland Trahan's (Madison Central) pinch-hit single in the bottom of the ninth inning drove in the winning run as Jones posted a 7-6 win in game one. In game two, Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) had a no-hitter through six innings and the Bobcats beat the Bulldogs, 6-3.
Jones, 31-7 overall, has won 10 straight games. 
The Bobcats, 16-6 in the MACJC, host Meridian in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Jones ends regular season play at Pearl River on April 30 and at home vs. East Mississippi on May 3.
Itawamba currently tops the league standings at 18-4, followed by Northwest at 18-6, Jones at 16-6 and Pearl River at 15-7.
MGCCC, 23-13 and 13-9, goes to Northeast on Saturday.
No. 7 Bobcats 7, Bulldogs 6
Jones led 6-3 going into the top of the ninth inning, but the Bulldogs scored three runs to tie it up.
In the bottom of the ninth, Gabe Lacy (Gulfport) drilled a one-out single to left and Easton Rainer (Clarkdale) followed with a single to right. Brune replaced Lacy as a pinch-runner.
Trahan then drilled a 2-2 pitch into leftfield for a single to score Brune and the Bobcats celebrated.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the top of the first when Ike Williams was hit by a pitch to start the game. Alden Davis singled and Brandon Parker walked to load the bases. Cullan O'Shea's sacrifice fly to center scored Williams.
Jones tied it in the bottom of the first when Trace Henry (Mooreville) led off with a walk, stole second base and scored on Brandon Hale's (Pontotoc) two-out double to right-center.
Parker hit a solo home run in the third to give MGCCC a 2-1 lead.
The Bulldogs made it 3-1 in the fourth when Louis Morgan and Williams reached on errors to start the inning and Miller Hancock reached on a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. Davis' sacrifice fly to center drove in Morgan.
Jones tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. 
O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) led off with a single and Lacy and Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) were both hit by pitches to load the bases. Burgos would score on a wild pitch and Chase Tilghman's (West Lauderdale) sacrifice fly to right tied made it 3-3.
The Bobcats took a 5-3 lead in the fifth. 
With one out, Hale was hit by a pitch and Blake Johnson (Gulfport) drew a walk. Burgos singled to load the bases and Lacy followed with a two-run single to right.
Jones made it 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth when Tilghman singled, Henry was hit by a pitch and Robbie Woody (Madison Central) singled to load the bases. Bailee Hendon (Vancleave) was then hit by a pitch to drive in Tilghman.
In the top of the ninth, Dee Hawthorne had a one-out single, Castor Lee was hit by a pitch and Fisher Ray tripled to right-center to drive them home. With one out, Williams bunted to score Ray and tie the game at 6-6.
Payton Harris (Oak Grove) pitched to one batter and got a strikeout to post the win. He is now 3-0 on the season. 
Starter Lane Thomas (Walker, Louisiana) went 4.2 innings, allowed three runs (two earned), four hits, walked five and struck out six. Hunter Eldridge (West Lauderdale) pitched 3.2 innings, allowed three runs, four hits, walked two and struck out one. Johnson tossed .1 of an inning and walked three.
Henry, Burgos, Lacy and Tilghman each had two singles. Hale doubled with Hendon, Johnson, Rainer and Trahan adding singles.
Hancock singled twice for MGCCC. Parker homered, Ray tripled and Williams, Davis, O'Shea and Hawthorne added singles.
Starter Tyler Hoffman went 4.1 innings, allowed five runs, five hits, walked two and struck out three. Nicholas Hertz pitched 3.0 innings, allowed one run, five hits and walked none. Jacob Roberts pitched an inning and got the loss. He gave up one run, three hits and struck out one.
No. 7 Bobcats 6, Bulldogs 3
Brune was outstanding for the Bobcats in game two as he improved to 5-2 on the year.
He had nine strikeouts and walked four in his six-plus innings of work. He ended up allowing three runs (one earned).
Ray doubled to left-center to start the seventh and Lee followed with a single. After Tanner Estill had an infield single to score Ray, Brune exited the game.
Harris entered and got a line drive out to Burgos at first base for the first out. Williams reached on an error to score a run, but Harris got a strikeout and a foul out to end the game. He was credited with his third save of the year.
Jones jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first.
Henry led off with a single, stole second and went to third on a single by Hendon. Henry would score on a wild pitch. Johnson reached on a fielder's choice and would later score when Burgos reached on a wild pitch when he struck out.
The Bulldogs made it 2-1 in the fourth when Hancock walked and Davis reached on a fielder's choice. Davis went to third on an error and scored on a passed ball after Parker struck out.
The Bobcats responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Mason doubled to right, Henry was hit by a pitch and Woody singled to load the bases with one out. Hendon followed with a two-run single to right and Hale then had a sacrifice fly to center.
Jones made it 6-1 in the fifth when Lacy was hit by a pitch and Mason reached on a fielder's choice. Mason advanced to second on an error and scored on a single by Henry.
Hendon paced Jones with three singles and Henry singled twice. Mason doubled with Woody, Johnson and Burgos adding singles.
Ray doubled with Lee and Estill getting singles for the Bulldogs.
Starter Ian Landreneau went 3.1 innings and got the loss. He allowed five runs, eight hits, walked one and struck out three. Justin Lockey went 1.1 innings, giving up an unearned run and a hit. Darby Gilbert went 1.1 innings, allowed no hits and struck out two.
