No. 9 Bobcats take two from Copiah-Lincoln

ELLISVILLE – The 9th-ranked Jones College Bobcats used a pair of complete-game pitching performances to sweep Copiah-Lincoln here Tuesday at Community Bank Park.
Lane Thomas (Walker, Louisiana) did not allow an earned run as the Bobcats won the opener, 10-1 in seven innings. In game two, Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) threw a shutout as the Bobcats triumphed, 5-0.
It was the third straight doubleheader sweep for Jones.
The Bobcats, 27-7 overall and 12-6 in the MACJC, host Coahoma in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Friday. The games will air on www.jcjc.tv.
Co-Lin, 18-13 and 9-9, goes to No. 4 Itawamba on Friday.

Thomas allowed six hits, walked two and struck out six as he improved to 7-1.
Jones got on the board in the second inning when Blake Johnson (Gulfport) led off with a double to right-center, advanced to third on a ground out by O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) and scored on a single to left by Easton Rainer (Clarkdale). After Gabe Lacy (Gulfport) walked, both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch would score Rainer and make it 2-0.
The Bobcats expanded the lead to 5-0 in the third.
With one out, Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) singled, Johnson walked and Burgos was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Rainer's sacrifice fly to right drove in Hale and Lacy's single to left scored Johnson. An infield single by Chase Tilghman (West Lauderdale) drove in Burgos.
Co-Lin's only run of the day came in the fourth when Joshua Day reached on a dropped third strike and later scored on a Thomas Slagle single.
The Bobcats made it 7-1 in the fifth.
Burgos led off with a walk, Rainer followed with a single and Tilghman walked to load the bases. Trace Henry (Mooreville) walked to force Burgos home and Robbie Woody's (Madison Central) sacrifice fly to right scored Rainer.
Jones ended the scoring in the sixth.
Hale led off with a single and Johnson followed with a single to send Hale to third base. A balk scored Hale and Burgos followed with a single. Rainer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Johnson scored when Lacy hit into a double play and Tilghman's single to left scored 
Burgos.
Johnson doubled and singled with Hale, Rainer and Tilghman each getting two singles. Henry, Bailee Hendon (Vancleave), Burgos and Lacy added singles. Rainer and Tilghman each had two RBIs.
Trey Frierson doubled and singled for the Wolves. Konner Allen had a double with Brooks Italiano, Slagle and Justin Johnson getting singles.
Starter Brandon Brown went 2.1 innings and got the loss. He allowed four runs, five hits, walked three and struck out one. Zach Smith went .2 of an inning, giving up a run and two hits. Jay Smith went 1.1 innings, allowing two runs, one hit and three walks. Bryce Henry went 1.2 innings, giving up three runs and four hits.

Brune gave up just five hits, walked three and struck out eight as he upped his record to 4-2.
Jones scored quickly in the bottom of the first when Henry led off with a single, stole second and scored on a Woody single.
The Bobcats made it 2-0 in the second when Burgos led off with a double to right-center, took third on a Rainer ground out and scored on a Lacy sacrifice fly to left.
Jones ended the scoring with three runs in the third.
Woody reached on an infield single and Hendon followed with a single to right. With two outs, Johnson singled to right to score Woody. A throwing error allowed Hendon to score and a single by Burgos scored Johnson.
Burgos doubled and singled for the Bobcats with Woody and Hendon getting two singles each. Henry and Johnson had singles.
Ryan Zimmerman, Day, Kyle Fielder, Slagle and Mark Hubbard singled for Co-Lin.
Allen, the starter, went five innings and got the loss. He gave up five runs, (four earned), eight hits and struck out one. Thomas Smith pitched an inning and walked one.
