RAYMOND – The 2
nd-ranked Jones College Bobcats split a doubleheader with No. 14 Hinds here Wednesday at Joe G. Moss Field.
In game one,
Cade Morgan (Grenada) tossed a 3-hit shutout and
O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) drove in five runs as Jones won 14-0 in five innings. The Eagles rebounded to win game two, 9-2.
Jones, 21-3 overall and 6-2 in the MACJC, will host Itawamba in a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
Hinds, 16-5 and 4-2, hosts Holmes on Friday.

Jones set the tone quickly.
In the top of the first inning, Tracey Henry (Mooreville) led off with a single and
Robbie Woody (Madison Central) followed with a single. Burgos then launched a three-run home run over the left field wall. He has three home runs and 27 RBIs on the season.
The Bobcats made it 6-0 in the third when
Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) doubled and scored on
Bailee Hendon's (Vancleave) single.
Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) followed with a triple. Another Henry single drove in
Gabe Lacy (Gulfport), who had reached on a fielder's choice.
Jones put the game away with an eight-run, fourth inning.
Morgan walked one and struck out six as he improved to 3-2.
Hendon doubled and singled twice to pace the 17-hit attack. Burgos homered and doubled with Mason getting a triple and a single. Henry, Woody,
Blake Johnson (Gulfport) and Lacy each had two singles. Hale had a double with
Steven Sasser (South Jones) adding a single.
Josh Cofield, Pablo Lazarote and Colby Collier singled for Hinds.
Connor Carter, the first of four Hinds pitcher, went 2.1 innings and got the loss.

Jones led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, but the Eagles scored three runs in that frame and added six more in the fifth.
Johnson had two singles for Jones with Henry getting a double. Hale and Lacy had singles.
Starter
Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) went 3.2 innings and got the loss. He allowed three runs, five hits, walked none and struck out six.
Coleton Ausbern (Nettleton) pitched .2 innings, allowed six runs, three hits, walked one and struck out one.
Hunter Eldridge (West Lauderdale) pitched .2 innings and allowed no runs and three hits. DJ Alexander (Gretna, Louisiana) pitched an inning, allowing no runs, one hit and notched a strikeout.
Luke Clement homered and doubled for the Eagles with Collier getting two singles. Walker Burchfield also homered.
Starter Preston Johnson tossed six innings and got the win. He allowed two runs (one earned), five hits and walked three. Landon Tompkins pitched an inning and had two strikeouts.
