No. 4 Bobcats take two from Baton Rouge CC

ELLISVILLE – The No. 4 Jones College Bobcats swept another doubleheader here Tuesday at Community Bank Park.
Cade Morgan (Grenada) pitched seven strong innings and Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) homered to pace Jones to a 7-3 win over Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) in game one. In game two, Hale and Trace Henry (Mooreville) both homered and Steven Sasser (South Jones) drove in four runs to spark the Bobcats to a 12-7 victory over the Bears.
Jones, 15-1, will open MACJC play with a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader at Northwest.
Baton Rouge, 7-22, hosts No. 1 LSU-Eunice Friday.

Morgan was sharp as he improved to 2-1. He allowed one run, five hits, walked one and struck out six.
The Bobcats took control with a four-run second inning.
Hale was hit by a pitch to start the inning, stole second and Gabe Lacy (Gulfport) followed with an RBI single. After a strikeout, Chase Tilghman (West Lauderdale) was hit by a pitch. After a foul out, Robbie Woody (Madison Central) doubled to right to score Lacy and make it 2-0. Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) followed with a two-run single to left.
BRCC got on the board in the fifth when Kendall Kennedy walked, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Cameron Guitreau.
In the bottom of the sixth, Blake Johnson (Gulfport) walked, Hale was hit by a pitch and Lacy walked. A double play groundout would allow Lacy to score and make it 5-1.
The Bears made it 5-2 in the eighth when Cody Crafasi singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Samuel Jarrell.
Hale would blast a two-run home run over the leftfield wall in the bottom of the eighth, scoring O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) who had doubled.
BRCC added a run in the ninth when Bo Barrileaux singled and scored on a single by Luke Lancon.
Cade Killingsworth (North Pike) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned), five hits, a walk and notching a strikeout. Johnson got the final out with the bases loaded and was credited with his third save of the season.
Woody doubled twice for the Bobcats with Hale getting a home run and Burgos a double. Mason and Lacy had singles.
Cameron Crawford doubled and singled twice for the Bears and Guitreau tripled and singled. Lancon, Jarrell, Barrileaux, Donovan Murray and Crafasi each singled.
Trevor Benoit went five innings and got the loss. He allowed four runs, three hits, walked three and struck out one. Jacob Cyr went .1 innings, allowed one run and walked two. Konner Leon tossed 2.2 innings, allowed two runs, three hits and struck out one.

Baton Rouge took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Murray walked, Crawford doubled and William Veillon reached on an error, which allowed Murray to score. Crawford would later score on a throwing error.
The Bobcats would bounce back with a five-run second inning.
Johnson led off with a double and Bailee Hendon (Vancleave) and Lacy walked to load the bases. Sasser followed with a two-run single to center and Henry reached on a bunt single to load the bases again.
After Woody lined into a double play, Hale blasted a three-run home run – his fourth of the season – to give the Bobcats a 5-2 lead.
BRCC came back with four runs in the third to take a 6-5 lead.
Luis Marmolejos and Barrileaux led off the inning with walks and Matthew Eskew followed with a two-run triple to right. After Elijah Mundy walked, Crifasi reached on a fielder's choice, which drove in Eskew. Jordan Labruzza then reached on an error, allowing Mundy to score.
Jones came right back in the bottom of the third to take an 8-6 lead.
Burgos led off with a double and Johnson singled to right. A throwing error back to the infield allowed Burgos to score. Hendon drew a walk and Lacy followed with a sacrifice.
Sasser then delivered a two-run double to right-center.
BRCC made it 8-7 in the fourth when Veillon reached on an error and later scored on a fielder's choice by Eskew.
The Bobcats would score in the bottom of the fourth when Hale doubled, was sacrificed to third by Mason and scored on a passed ball. 
In the fifth, Lacy blooped a double to left and Sasser followed with a bunt single. Henry then mashed a three-run home run over the left-center field wall.
Coleton Ausbern (Nettleton) went 2.1 innings in relief and got the win to improve to 4-0. He allowed no runs, one hit, no walks and struck out four. Chance Forbes (Columbia Academy)) pitched the final inning, allowing no runs, walking one and getting a strikeout.
Starter Payton Harris (Oak Grove) went 2.0 innings, allowed five runs (three earned), three hits, walked five and struck out four. He was followed by Hunter Eldridge (West Lauderdale), who went 1.2 innings, allowed two runs (none earned), one hit, walked three and struck out one.
Sasser doubled, singled twice and drove in four runs. Hale homered, doubled, singled and had three RBIs. Henry homered and singled with Burgos and Johnson each getting a double and a single. Lacy added a double.
Crawford doubled and singled for the Bears with Eskew getting a triple. Murray and Mitchell Lemoine added singles.
Starter Garrison Beiriger went two innings and took the loss. He allowed eight runs, six hits and walked four. Jacob Jenson went two innings and gave up one run, two hits and walked one. Cole Harper tossed an inning, allowed three runs, five hits and walked one. William Garrett Smith pitched an inning, allowed no runs or hits, walked two and struck out one.
