Fourth-ranked Bobcats take two from Delgado

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – The No. 4 Jones College Bobcats took two games from Delgado Community College (Louisiana) here Saturday afternoon at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
Lane Thomas (Walker, Louisiana) tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the Bobcats to a 6-0 win in game one. In game two, Blake Johnson (Gulfport) belted two home runs and O'Neill Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) drove in five runs as the Bobcats won, 10-4.
Jones, 13-1, will host Baton Rouge Community College in a 2 p.m. Tuesday doubleheader.
Delgado, 9-5, hosts Copiah-Lincoln on Monday.
Bobcats 6, Dolphins 0
Thomas was sharp throughout as he improved to 4-0.
He went seven innings, walked two and struck out seven. The only hit he allowed was a second inning single by Justin Ory.
The game was scoreless until the fifth when Robbie Woody (Madison Central) singled home Trace Henry (Mooreville). Burgos followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.
Kirkland Trahan (Madison Central) doubled home Brandon Hale (Pontotoc).
In the top of the seventh, Hale doubled Johnson home and Gabe Lacy (Gulfport) ended the scoring with a two-run home run.
Hale had three doubles, Lacy homered and singled and Henry doubled and singled. Henry had a double with Woody, Burgos and Johnson adding singles.
Daniel Dugas took the loss. He went five innings, allowing three runs, seven hits, two walks and recording a strikeout. Zach Roussel pitched the final two innings, giving up three runs, four hits, a walk and notching a strikeout.
Bobcats 10, Dolphins 4
Jones trailed 1-0 entering the sixth inning.
With Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) and Woody on base, Burgos blasted a three-run home run and Johnson followed with another shot to make it 4-1.
The Dolphins made it 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, but Jones responded with six runs in the top of the seventh.
Bailee Hendon (Vancleave) hit a solo home run and Mason's RBI single scored Trahan. Burgos would get a two-run single to make it 8-3 and Johnson followed with a two-run blast to make it 10-3.
Coleton Ausbern (Nettleton) pitched the final three innings and got the win to improve to 3-0. He allowed three runs (one earned), five hits, walked one and struck out five. Starter Brady Greene (Montgomery, Alabama) went four innings, allowed one run, three hits and walked one.
Johnson homered twice and now has a team-leading five roundtrippers on the season. Hendon had a home run and a triple and Burgos had a home run and a single. Woody and Mason each had two singles with Hale and Trahan adding singles.
Ory tripled, doubled and singled for Delgado. Brandon Briuglio, Tyler McManus, Grant Schulz, Stephen Klein and Brandon Duhon added singles.
Starter Payton Russell went six innings and took the loss. He allowed five runs, seven hits, walked none and struck out four. Brock Daniels pitched the seventh inning, giving up five runs, five hits, no walks and notching a strikeout.
