ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats posted a pair of dramatic, come from behind victories here Monday at Community Bank Park.
In the opener, Jones battled back from a 9-1, fifth inning deficit and defeated the Shelton State (Alabama) Bucs, 12-11 in 11 innings.
In game two, Jones was limited to one hit and trailed 3-0 entering its final at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. But the Bobcats came back and beat the Bucs, 4-3.
Jones, 8-0, will host a tripleheader on Friday.
The Bobcats meet Illinois Central in a seven-inning, noon game. Illinois Central plays No. 1 LSU-Eunice in a seven-inning, 3 p.m. contest and the Bobcats and Bengals tangle in a nine-inning, 6 p.m. game.
Shelton State, 1-8, visits Northwest Florida State this weekend for a three-game series

With the game tied at 11-11 going into the bottom of the 11
th,
Steven Sasser (South Jones) was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
O'Neil Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) followed with a double to put runners at second and third with no outs.
Blake Johnson (Gulfport) was intentionally walked to load the bases.
Bailee Hendon (Vancleave) then drew a bases-loaded walk on a 3-1 pitch to force home Sasser with the winning run.
Going into the bottom of the ninth, the Bobcats trailed, 10-7.
With one out,
Chase Tilghman (West Lauderdale) was hit by a pitch and
Trace Henry (Mooreville) followed with a single.
Robbie Woody (Madison Central) then singled to load the bases.
Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) followed with an RBI walk and Burgos tied the game with a two-run double.
Burgos had three doubles, two singles, two RBIs and scored two runs. Woody had four singles and scored three runs.
Brandon Hale (Pontotoc) homered, doubled and scored twice. Hendon tripled and had two RBIs with Henry, Mason and
Kirkland Trahan (Madison Central) adding singles. Henry had two runs scored.
Coleton Ausbern (Nettleton), the fifth pitcher used by the Bobcats, went the final two innings and got the win to improve to 2-0. He allowed one run, one hit, walked one and struck out two.
Brady Greene (Montgomery, Alabama) pitched three innings, allowed eight runs (seven earned), eight hits, walked one and struck out one.
Hunter Eldridge (West Lauderdale) tossed 4.1 innings, allowed one run, four hits, walked two and struck out two.
Cooper Brune (Ocean Springs) went 1.1 innings, allowed one run, one hit, one walk and struck out two.
Chance Forbes (Columbia Academy) went .1 innings and gave up a hit.
Tyler Robertson homered, singled twice and drove in four runs for Shelton St.
Garrett Bryant, the fourth pitcher of the game for the Bucs, got the loss. He pitched 3.1 innings, allowed six runs, seven hits, walked seven, hit two and struck out two.
Bobcats 4, Bucs 3
Heading into the bottom of the seventh, a third inning single by
Gabe Lacy (Gulfport) was all the Bobcats had done offensively.
Burgos led off the frame with a walk and Hendon had a one-out single. Hale then walked to load the bases. Lacy reached on an infield single to score Burgos and Sasser's sacrifice fly to right drove in Hale. With two outs, Henry followed with a single to right to drive in Hale and tie the game at 3-3.
Woody then came up and doubled into the left-center gap to drive in Lacy with the winning run.
Kyle Earwood (Richton) pitched the final inning and got the win to improve to 1-0. He allowed one walk and no hits. Starter
Payton Harris (Oak Grove) went 4.2 innings, allowed three runs, six hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Cade Killingsworth (North Pike) tossed 1.1 innings, allowed no hits, walked two and struck out one.
Lacy singled twice for the Bobcats. Woody doubled with Henry and Hendon getting singles.
John Marc Mullins doubled and singled for the Bucs.
Tyler Bassett, the third pitcher of the game for Shelton State, got the loss. He pitched .1 innings and gave up a run on three hits.
