BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The 10
th-rated Jones County Junior College Bobcats won its eighth straight game with a 12-5 win over Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) in game two of a doubleheader here at Pete Goldsby Field Thursday afternoon.
JCJC won game one, 5-3.
JCJC, 27-7 overall, returns to MACJC play for an important 3 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Trace Henry (Mooreville) doubled and singled twice to lead the Bobcats at the plate.
Miguel Morgan (South Jones) doubled and singled and
Robbie Woody (Madison Central) had two singles.
Jake Mason (West Lauderdale) and
R.J. Brown (Columbus, Georgia) had doubles with
Brandon Hale (Pontotoc),
Jacob Vick (East Central) and
Hudson Harris (West Jones) adding singles.
D.J. Alexander (Gretna, Louisiana) was the starter for Jones. He went 3.1 innings, allowed three runs (two earned), three hits, walked two and struck out three.
Payton Harris (Oak Grove) went the final 3.2 innings and was credited with the win, going to 8-0 on the season. He gave up two runs (one earned), three hits, walked none and struck out seven.
Seth Daugherty doubled and singled to lead BRCC.
Starter Brett Fisackerly went 3.2 innings and got the loss. He allowed six runs (four earned), six hits, walked three and struck out two.
The game was tied 1-1 after one inning. JCJC led 2-1 after two, 5-1 after three, 6-3 after four and 8-4 after five. The Bobcats scored four runs in the top of the seventh.
The Bears, 12-30, travel to No. 1 LSU-Eunice for a 3-game series Friday-Sunday.
