WESSON –
Luther Woullard (D'Iberville) had seven RBIs to lead No. 10 Jones County to an 18-6, six-inning victory over Copiah-Lincoln in game two of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats won game one, 12-2 in five innings.
JCJC is now 25-7 overall and 12-4 in the MACJC. Co-Lin falls to 15-12 and 4-10.
Woullard set the tone with a two-run home run in the first inning. He would add four singles to give him a 5-for-5 day at the plate in game two.
Robbie Woody (Madison Central) had two singles and drove in three runs, while
Trace Henry (Mooreville) and
Hudson Harris (West Jones) also had two singles each.
Brandon Hale (Pontotoc),
R.J. Brown (Columbus, Georgia) and
Stephen Matthews (Tupelo) each added a single.
Tyler Spring (Stone) went four innings and got the win. He allowed three earned runs, five hits, walked three and struck out five and improved his record to 5-1.
Grayson Livingston (Wayne Academy) tossed 1.2 innings, allowed three earned runs, four hits, walked two and struck out one.
Taylor Gatwood (Petal) got the final out of the game.
Ryan Zimmerman homered and singled for Co-Lin, while Jaylyn Williams had two singles.
Jordan Bowden, the first of five Co-Lin pitchers, last 1.1 innings and took the loss.
The game was tied 2-2 after one inning. The Bobcats led 5-2 after two, 10-3 after three and 12-3 after five innings.
Jones travels to Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday.
Co-Lin goes to Coahoma on Saturday.
