Logan Robbins (George County) tossed a no-hitter as No. 1 Jones County Junior College blanked Holmes Community College 10-0 in game two of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The Bobcats won game one, 20-1.
JCJC, 42-2 overall and 24-2 in MACJC play, will host Meridian in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Saturday to conclude regular season play.
The Bobcats will then host the Region 23 Tournament May 17-20.
Robbins was in complete control in game two.
He did not allow a baserunner until he walked Zach Boone with two outs on a 3-2 pitch in the fourth. He ended the game with five strikeouts and now has 83 strikeouts in 61 2/3 innings on the signee. The Louisiana Tech signee is 11-0 on the season.
Jones scored a run in the second when Jacob Hiatt (Petal) led off with a walk and
Miguel Morgan (South Jones) doubled down the rightfield to drive him home.
JCJC went up 4-0 in the third.
Erick Hoard (Brandon) singled and Tanner Huddleston (George County) doubled inside the third base bag into the leftfield corner. Hiatt followed with a two-run double and Morgan's line drive single to center scored Hiatt.
The Bobcats took a 6-0 lead in the fourth.
Jacob Vick (East Central) led off with a double and scored on
Caleb Ledet's (Houma, Louisiana) single. With two outs, Ledet stole second and scored on a single by Huddleston.
Jones ended the game in the bottom of the fifth when they scored four runs.
J.D. Polles (Presbyterian Christian School) led off with a walk and Morgan singled.
Tate Pepper (Ocean Springs) singled to left to score Polles. Vick reached on an error, which loaded the bases.
Shelton Wallace (Northwest Rankin) singled to score Morgan and Ledet followed with a single to score courtesy runner
Grayson Livingston (Wayne Academy) and Vick to end the game.
Ledet had three singles and three RBIs, while Morgan had a double and two singles. Huddleston and Vick both doubled and singled with Hiatt getting a double and Wallace, Hoard and Pepper adding singles.
Starter Scott Shearer took the loss. He went four innings, allowed six runs, 10 hits, walked one and struck out three. Landry Newsom pitched to six batters in the fifth inning and did not retire one. He allowed four runs (two earned) and walked one.
Holmes ends the season at 14-32 overall and 5-23 in conference play.
