MOORHEAD – Mississippi Delta Community College blanked top-ranked Jones County Junior College 3-0 here Friday afternoon in game two at the Jimmy Bellipanni Baseball Complex.
JCJC won the opener, 12-3.
JCJC, 36-2 overall and 18-2 in the MACJC, will play a 4 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday at Pearl River. The games have been moved back from Tuesday because of an outbreak of mumps on the PRCC team.
MDCC, 24-14 overall and 11-9 in the league, visits Itawamba on Tuesday.
In game wo, JCJC limited MDCC to only three hits, but the Trojans made them count.
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the second.
With nobody on base and two outs, Kaleb Bell walked, Dawson Ivey singled and Will Godfrey walked to load the bases. Weber Herbison was hit by a pitch to score a run and Tyler Jones walked to plate another.
JCJC got runners on second and third with one out in the third, but a pair of strikeouts ended the threat.
MDCC ended the scoring in the fifth when Jake Hartman reached on an error, Nathan Pilutti doubled and Wendell Rieves had an RBI single.
The Bobcats had two on and one out in both the fifth and sixth innings, but could not score.
Reed Michel (West Lauderdale) started and took the loss. He went 1 2/3 innings, allowed two runs, one hit, walked three and struck out three. He is now 6-1 on the season.
Bryce Fagan (Petal) pitched two innings, allowed one run (unearned), two hits, walked one and struck out one.
Will Freeman (Semmes, Alabama) pitched the final two innings, allowed no runs, no hits, walked none and struck out five.

Cole Marsh went all seven innings and got the win. He allowed no runs, six hits, walked one and struck out six.
Pilutti doubled for MDCC, while Ivey and Rieves had singles.
