Top-ranked Bobcats whip Northeast, 15-2

BOONEVILLE – No. 1 Jones County Junior College scored 13 runs over the final three innings and whipped Northeast Mississippi 15-2 in game two of a doubleheader here Saturday afternoon at Harold T. White Field.
JCJC won game one, 13-1.
JCJC is now 27-1 overall and 9-1 in the MACJC. The Bobcats visit Southwest for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday.
Northeast, 10-16 and 3-7, hosts Itawamba on Wednesday.
Game two was tied 2-2 headed into the fifth inning before the Bobcat bats exploded.
JCJC took a 2-0 lead in the first when Shelton Wallace (Northwest Rankin) was hit by a pitch, Erick Hoard (Brandon) singled and Tanner Huddleston's (George County) groundout scored Wallace. Jonathan Parker's (New Orleans, Louisiana) single drove in Hoard.
The Tigers tied it in the bottom of the third when Parker Haberstroh singled and Josh Stillman followed with a double. Bailey Walker then hit a two-run double.
Jones then sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs in the fifth inning.
Tate Pepper (Ocean Springs) led off with a double to left and was replaced by courtesy runner Jacob Vick (East Central). Caleb Ledet (Houma, Louisiana) walked and Fred Franklin (West Lauderdale) reached on a bunt single. An error on the play allowed Vick to score and Ledet scored on a passed ball. Wallace drew a walk and Hoard's single scored Franklin. Wallace would later score on a passed ball.
Parker was hit by a pitch and Jacob Hiatt's (Petal) groundout scored Hoard. After Luther Woullard (D'Iberville) walked, Pepper got his second hit of the inning, a single that scored Parker to make it 8-2.
Jones added a run in the sixth when Wallace doubled and scored on Hoard's single.
The Bobcats scored six runs in the seventh.
Hiatt, Woullard and Pepper each singled to load the bases and Ledet followed with a two-run single. A Franklin groundout scored a run and Wallace followed with an RBI single. Hoard doubled home a run and Huddleston delivered an RBI double.
Logan Robbins (George County) was the starter and winner, improving to 7-0. He went 5 2/3 innings, allowed two runs, four hits, walked none and struck out seven. Will Freeman (Semmes, Alabama) pitched 1/3 of an inning and got a strikeout. Zach Taylor (Brandon) pitched the final inning and struck out the side. He allowed one hit and gave up a walk.
Hoard had three singles, a double and four RBIs, while Pepper had two singles and a double. Wallace and Huddleston each doubled and singled with Hiatt getting two singles. Franklin, Parker, Woullard and Ledet added singles.
Walker and Stillman each doubled for Northeast with Haberstroh, John David Poss and Graham Howell adding singles.
Starter Hunter Swindle went four-plus innings and took the loss. He allowed six runs, four hits, walked three and struck out three. Elijah Potts, Stillman and Payton Lannon also pitched for the Tigers.
