SENATOBIA – Top-ranked Jones County Junior College whipped Northwest Mississippi 14-2 in game two of a doubleheader here Friday afternoon at Jim Miles Field.
The Rangers won game one, 11-1.
JCJC is now 23-1 overall and 5-1 in the MACJC. The Bobcats travel to East Central for a 3 p.m. Tuesday doubleheader.
Northwest, 15-9 and 3-3 in the league, hosts Holmes on Tuesday.
Shelton Wallace (Northwest Rankin) hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs as the Bobcats rolled in game two.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when
Luther Woullard's (D'Iberville) sacrifice fly scored
Tanner Huddleston (George County).
The Bobcats exploded for seven runs in the third.
Fred Franklin (West Lauderdale) hit a two-run home run to score
Caleb Ledet (Houma, Louisiana) and Huddleston hit a two-run home run to score
Erick Hoard (Brandon). Woullard's two-run single scored
Jacob Hiatt (Petal) and
Jacob Vick (East Central) and Franklin's single scored Woullard.
The Bobcats took a 10-0 lead in the fifth when Wallace hit a two-run home run to left-center.
The Rangers scored twice in the bottom of the fifth when Campbell got a two-run double.
In the top of the seventh, Wallace hit a grand slam to left to score Franklin, Ledet and
Grayson Livingston (Wayne Academy).
Logan Robbins (George County) got the win to improve to 6-0. He went five innings, allowed two runs and three hits. He walked four and struck out seven.
Tristan Labove (Petal) pitched the final two innings, allowed no runs and struck out five.
Herrington and Campbell doubled for Northwest and Nix singled.
Ian Hawkins was the starter and loser. He went 2 1/3 innings, allowed five runs, three hits and one walk. Nathan Harrison, Drew Hurst, Trey Morrison and Cody McGarrity also pitched for Northwest.
