Top-rated Bobcats complete sweep of Hinds

RAYMOND – Reed Michel (West Lauderdale), Will Freeman (Semmes, Alabama) and Tristan Labove (Petal) combined on a three-hitter as No. 1 Jones County defeated Hinds 9-1 here Wednesday afternoon at Joe G. Moss Field in game two of a doublehade.
Jones took the opener, 9-0.
The Bobcats are now 22-0 overall and 4-0 in the MACJC. JCJC visits Northwest for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
Shelton Wallace (Northwest Rankin) got the Bobcats off to a good start in game two when he homered to left in the first.
JCJC went up 5-0 in the third.
Fred Franklin (West Lauderdale) singled, Wallace walked and Erick Hoard (Brandon) reached on an error, which allowed Franklin to score. Tanner Huddleston (George County) then doubled to right score Wallace. Jonathan Parker's (New Orleans, Louisiana) sacrifice fly to center scored Hoard. Jacob Hiatt (Petal) drew a walk and scored on a single by Luther Woullard (D'Ibervile).
The Eagles got a run in the fourth, but the Bobcats would score four in the sixth.
Tate Pepper (Ocean Springs) was hit by a pitch and was replaced by courtesy runner J.D. Polles (Presbyterian Christian School). Caleb Ledet (Houma, Louisiana) then bunted and reached on an error. Franklin's sacrifice fly to center scored Polles. Wallace singled and Hoard walked to load the bases.
Ledet scored on a wild pitch and Huddleston's ground out drove in Wallace. Parker's single scored Hoard.
Michel went the first four innings and got the win, as he improved to 4-0. He allowed one run, two hits, walked two and struck out five. Freeman pitched two innings, allowed no runs, one hit, walked one and struck out three. Labove pitched a perfect seventh and got a strikeout.
Wallace homered and singled and Huddleston had two doubles. Franklin, Hoard, Parker, Hiatt and Woullard had singles.
Will Craft, Kyle Schimpf and Staton Todd each singled for Hinds.
Starter Adam Jackson went two-plus innings, allowed three runs, five hits, walked one, struck out three and got the loss.
Hinds falls to 11-7 and 1-3. The Eagles host Arkansas Baptist on Friday.
