MOBILE, Alabama – Top-ranked Jones County Junior College rolled to an 11-1 decision over the Spring Hill College Junior Varsity here Friday evening in game two of a doubleheader.
JCJC took game one, 4-2.
The Bobcats are 18-0 and will open MACJC play at 2 p.m. on March 18 at East Mississippi.
A five-run third inning keyed the Bobcats to the victory.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the second when Jonathan Parker (New Orleans, Louisiana) reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Luther Woullard (D'Iberville) then doubled Parker home.
Caleb Ledet (Houma, Louisiana) and
Shelton Wallace (Northwest Rankin) singled in the third and both scored on a single by
Erick Hoard (Brandon) to make it 3-0. Tanner Huddleston (George County) reached on a fielder's choice and Parker followed with a two-run double. Jacob Hiatt (Hiatt) then doubled Parker home to make it 6-0.
The Bobcats went up 8-0 in the fifth.
Huddleston was hit by a pitch, took second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Parker. Parker took second on a passed ball and went to third on Woullard's single.
Tate Pepper's (Ocean Springs) infield hit scored Parker.
Spring Hill scored in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-1.
The Bobcats took a 9-1 lead in the sixth when
J.D. Polles (Presbyterian Christian School) led off with a walk, advanced to second and third on passed balls, and scored on Huddleston's sacrifice fly.
Jones closed the scoring in the seventh.
Hudson Harris (West Jones) was hit by a pitch and was replaced by courtesy runner Justin Vick (East Central).
Fred Franklin (West Lauderdale) followed with a single and Polles delivered a two-run double.
Logan Robbins (George County) went the first four innings and got the win. He struck out 10 and allowed four hits. He is 5-0 on the year.
Bryce Fagan (Petal) went two innings, allowed an unearned run, three hits, walked one and struck out three.
Kyle Shepherd (Christian Collegiate) pitched the final inning and got a struck out one.
Parker and Woullard each doubled and singled, while Wallace singled twice. Polles and Hiatt had doubles with Franklin, Hoard, Pepper and Ledet added singles.
