ENID, Oklahoma – The No. 3 Jones County Junior College Bobcats needed a quality start from
Calder Mikell if they wanted to remain alive in the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series.
And the Bobcats received one from the Southern Miss signee.
Mikell went seven innings, gave up six hits and struck out six as the Bobcats eliminated Brunswick Community College (North Carolina) 11-3 in eight innings here Tuesday afternoon at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
The Bobcats, 51-9, will now play at 7 p.m. on Thursday vs. either GateWay (Arizona), Mercer (New Jersey) or Sinclair (Ohio). The game will air on

Mikell walked five in his outing as he improved to 11-1. Sophomore T.J. Hollis pitched the final inning and did not allow a run or hit.
JCJC took advantage of wildness from Brunswick starter Thomas Coggburn in the first inning as they scored three runs on no hits, four walks, a hit batsman and a fielder's choice.
Clint Sesser,
Fred Franklin and
Tanner Huddleston each walked to start the game. A pitch to force Sesser home hit
Erick Hoard. After a fly out,
John Alan Wall walked to score Franklin.
Shelton Wallace's fielder's choice grounder scored Huddleston to make it 3-0.
The Dolphins got on the board in the bottom of the third.
Marshall Smith and Nolan Cheney drew walks and Nathan Quester sacrificed the runners. Nick Yarbrough then doubled into the leftfield corner to drive in two runs.
JCJC bounced back to take a 6-2 lead in the fourth.
Jonathan Parker led off with a single,
Dalton Skelton walked and Sesser singled to load the bases. Franklin's single scored Parker, Huddleston's sacrifice fly scored Skelton and Hoard's sacrifice fly scored Sesser.
Brunswick's final run came in the sixth when Joel McDaniel launched a solo home run over the leftfield wall.
The Bobcats expanded the lead to 10-3 in the seventh.
A pitch to start the inning, Parker singled to right, hit Wallace and a pitch to load the bases hit Skelton. Sesser walked to score Wallace, Franklin's sacrifice fly scored Parker and Huddleston's sacrifice fly scored Skelton. Hoard's single drove in Sesser.
JCJC ended the scoring in the eighth when Wallace led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on Parker's single.
Parker had three singles for JCJC, while Hoard and Wallace had two singles each. Sesser, Franklin and Skelton each had a single. Hoard finished with three RBIs and Sasser scored three runs.
McDaniel homered and singled, while Yarbrough doubled and singled for the Dolphins. Cheney and Anthony Lombardo added singles.
Coburn, the first of seven Brunswick pitchers, took the loss. He pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowed three runs (all earned), no hits, walked eight and struck out two.
Brunswick pitchers combined for 11 walks and hit five batters.
The Dolphins end the season at 42-18.
