ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College completed a sweep of Northeast Mississippi with a 13-3 win in five innings here in game two Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
JCJC won the opener 12-2 in seven innings.
The Bobcats are now 28-2 overall and lead the MACJC with an 11-1 record. Northeast falls to 15-15 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
The Tigers scored a run in the top of the first inning when Garrison Howell singled, went to second on a ground ball, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.
The Bobcats came back to score two runs in the bottom of the first.
Shelton Wallace drew a walk and
Mason Irby singled. Irby then got caught in a rundown between first and second and Wallace scored from third base. Irby stole second and scored on
Erick Hoard's single.
JCJC used a seven-run, second inning to take control.
Chris Richardson doubled and was sacrificed to third by
Fred Franklin. After
Clint Sasser was hit by a pitch, Wallace drove in a run with an infield single. Irby followed with an RBI single and
Tanner Huddleston's sacrifice fly to center scored Wallace to make it 5-1.
Hoard followed with an RBI single and
Jonathan Parker doubled him home.
Dalton Skelton tripled to score courtesy runner
Josh Keel and Richardson's second double of the inning scored Skelton to make it 9-1.
Northeast scored twice in the fourth.
Tray Davis walked, Daniel Calvery followed with a single and John Murphree was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Cole Camp's single scored Davis and Howell's bunt single scored Calvery.
The Bobcats ended the game with four runs in the fifth.
Sasser led off with a single, stole second and scored on Wallace's double. Irby's single scored Wallace and Huddleston followed with a single.
After a strikeout and groundout, Skelton ended the game with a two-run single.
Logan Robbins, 4-0, posted the victory. He pitched four innings, allowed three earned runs, four hits, walked four and struck out seven. T.J. Hollis pitched the fifth inning and struck out one.
Irby singled three times and drove in two runs, while Skelton tripled, singled and had three RBIs. Richardson doubled twice, while Parker doubled and singled. Hoard singled twice and had two RBIs. Wallace doubled and had two RBIs, while Sasser and Huddleston added singles.
Trace Lee pitched 1 2/3 innings and took the loss. He gave up eight runs, seven hits, walked one and struck out one. Ryan Watts pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowed one earned run, two hits and walked two. Hunter Bronson went 2/3 of an inning, allowed four runs, five hits and struck out one.
Howell singled twice for the Tigers. Josh Stillman and Calvery added singles.
