ELLISVILLE – The fourth-rated Jones County Junior College Bobcats completed a sweep of Pearl River with an 8-3 victory in game two here Wednesday evening at Community Bank Park.
The Bobcats are now 33-3 overall and lead the MACJC at 16-2. JCJC has a four-game lead in the conference with 10 games remaining.
Pearl River falls to 21-17 overall and 6-14 in the league.
Calder Mikell only allowed two hits in four innings and posted the win.
He allowed three runs (two earned), walked four, hit two and struck out six as he improved to 7-1.
Reed Michel pitched two innings, gave up no runs, one hit, walked one and struck out three.
Jay Simpson tossed the final inning, allowed no runs, one hit and walked one.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when
Clint Sasser singled, stole second and scored on
Mason Irby's double.
The Wildcats tied it in the second when Jonathan Turner walked, took second on a wild pitch, went to third on a groundout and scored on Justin Demary's groundout.
JCJC bounced back with three runs in the bottom of the second.
John Alan Wall reached on an error and Jonathan Parked singled.

Shelton Wallace's groundout scored Franklin to give JCJC a 4-1 lead.
The Wildcats made it 4-2 in the third when Austin Moffett was hit by a pitch, Peyton Lee walked and Lucas Scott walked to load the bases. Turner's RBI single scored Moffett, but Mikell recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
Jones added a run in the bottom of the third when Huddleston was hit by a pitch and scored on
Erick Hoard's double.
PRCC came back with a run in the fourth when Demary walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Graham Hackbarth's double to make it 5-3.
JCJC got a run back in the fifth when Hoard singled, Wall doubled and Parker hit a sacrifice fly to center.
The Bobcats ended the scoring in the sixth.
Irby singled and Huddleston with hit by a pitch. With two outs, Wall's pop up on the infield was dropped, allowing Irby to score. Huddleston would score on a wild pitch.
Irby, Hoard and Wall each doubled and singled for the Bobcats, while Sasser had two singles. Wallace, Parker and Franklin added singles.
John Carter Sanner, 5-2, went the distance and took the loss. He allowed eight runs (four earned), 11 hits, walked two and struck out four.
Hackbarth doubled for the Wildcats, while Lee, Turner and Gage Teer had singles.
The Bobcats travel to Holmes for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on April 19. JCJC will host Mississippi Delta on April 23.
Pearl River hosts Mississippi Delta on Saturday.
