FULTON – Jones County scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 7-6 lead, but Itawamba rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning and posted an 8-7 decision in game two here Saturday afternoon at Roy Cresap Field.
JCJC took the opener, 14-3.
The Bobcats are now 31-3 overall and lead the MACJC at 14-2. ICC is 17-15 overall and 5-11 in the conference.
The Bobcats rallied from deficits of 5-0 and 6-3, but could not hold on for the win.
ICC scored four runs in the first inning and added a run in the second.
JCJC made it 5-3 in the third.
Fred Franklin led off the inning with a home run.
Clint Sasser followed with a single and advanced to second on an error.
Shelton Wallace singled to score Sasser and
Tanner Huddleston's single brought home Wallace.
The Indians made it 6-3 in the sixth before the Bobcats took a 7-6 lead in the seventh.
Sasser led off with a single and Wallace and Irby walked to load the bases. Huddleston then cleared the bases with a three-run double. After a groundout,
Dalton Skelton's single scored Huddleston to give JCJC the lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, Timothy Rowe reached on an error. With two outs, Drake Rowton walked and Austin Carpenter singled to load the bases. Keith Stepter was hit by a pitch to score Rowe and Kaleb Barnes singled to shallow center to score Rowton with the winning run.
Huddleston doubled, singled twice and drove in four runs, while Parker doubled and singled. Sasser and Hoard each singled twice, while Franklin homered. Wallace, Irby and Skelton added singles.
Tyler Spring, 1-2, pitched 1 2/3 innings and took the loss. He allowed three runs (one earned), two hits, walked two and struck out one. Starter
Logan Robbins went five innings, allowed five runs (four earned), nine hits, walked none and struck out three.
Delvin Zinn tripled and singled for ICC, while Tyreque Reed singled twice. Carpenter and Rowton doubled with Ty Wheeler, Bryan Malone, Rowe, Barnes and Hagan Box adding singles.
John Morgan Payne, 5-3, went the distance and got the win. He allowed seven runs (all earned), 13 hits, walked two and struck out five.
