JCJC completes sweep of Rangers

ELLISVILLE – Jones County scored three runs in the second inning and went on to defeat Northwest 4-2 in game two here Friday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
The Bobcats won the opener, 8-6 in 10 innings.
JCJC is now 24-2 overall and leads the MACJC with a 7-1 record. Northwest falls to 12-10 and 4-6.
Erick Hoard led off the second with an infield single and stole second. Jonathan Parker walked and was replaced by courtesy runner Josh Keel. Both runners advanced on a double steal.
Chris Richardson's sacrifice fly to right drove in Hoard and advanced Keel to third. Dalton Skelton's sacrifice fly to left scored Keel.
Mason Strickland, in only his second at-bat of the season, followed with a solo home run over the leftfield wall to make it 3-0.
The Bobcats made it 4-0 in the fourth when Hoard led off with a walk and scored on Parker's double to right.
The Rangers cut the lead in half in the fifth when Jamell Newson tripled and Ryan Skalnik followed with a two-run home run.
Northwest got a one-out walk in the seventh, but Tyler Spring came on in relief and got a groundout and a strikeout to end the game.
Logan Robbins, 3-0, went five innings and got the win. He allowed two runs, five hits, walked one and struck out one. Tristan Labove went 1 1/3 innings, allowed no hits and walked one. Spring got the final two outs for his second save of the season.
Strickland homered, Parker and Tanner Huddleston doubled and Shelton Wallace and Hoard had singles for Jones.
Wright, 2-2, went 5 1/3 innings and took the loss. He gave up four runs, five hits and walked three. Austin Towles pitched 2/3 of an inning and struck out one.
Skalnik homered, Newson tripled and LeeMarcus Boyd, David Herrington and Hunter Wilson added singles.
 The Bobcats go to Copiah-Lincoln for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on March 30 and will host Northeast at 2 p.m. on April 2.
Northwest entertains Itawamba on March 30.
