POPLARVILLE –
Dylan Manichia and
Mason Irby had four singles each to lead 10
th-ranked Jones County Junior College to a 16-5 victory over Pearl River in game one of a doubleheader here Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
JCJC took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Manichia and
Carter Polles drew walks and Irby followed with an RBI single.
Tyler Schankin later had an RBI single.
The Wildcats then scored three runs without getting a hit in the bottom of the inning.
Tracy Hadley Jr. was hit by a pitch, Derrick Mount walked and Jalen Haskin was hit by a pitch. Gage Teer then walked to force in a run and Mount scored on a wild pitch. Brody Bray's sacrifice fly scored Haskin.
The Bobcats took a 4-3 lead in the second.
Clint Sasser was hit by a pitch, stole second, went to third on balk and scored on
Chris Richardson's sacrifice fly. Manichia then singled, Polles walked and Irby came through with another RBI single.
Pearl River regained the lead at 5-4 in the bottom of the second when Mount singled and Haskin followed with a home run.
JCJC took a 6-5 lead in the fourth.
Manichia singled, Polles reached on a fielder's choice and Irby followed with another single.

The Bobcats went ahead 10-5 in the sixth.
Manichia singled, Polles was hit by a pitch and Irby singled to load the bases. Wall then followed with a two-run single.
Peyton Attaway was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Sasser was hit by a pitch to score a run. Richardson then walked to force in another run.
The Bobcats put it away with a six-run, seventh.
Manichia led off with a walk and Polles doubled. Manichia then scored on a wild pitch and Irby walked. Wall reached on an error, which allowed Polles to score. Sasser then walked to load the bases and Richardson walked to score a run.
Chris Morgan then reached on an error, which allowed Wall and Sasser to score. Manichia's single scored Richardson.
Will Brand, 5-1, went the final 4 2/3 innings and posted the win. He allowed no runs, two hits, walked two and struck out two.
Will Simon pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowed two runs, three hits, walked one and struck out one. Polles was the starter and faced five batters.
After Manichia and Irby's effort at the plate, Wall had two singles and four RBIs. Polles had a double with Schankin and Sasser adding singles.
Haskin homered and singled for PRCC. Mount, Kreg Garner and Carter Hankins added singles.
Reagan Wease, the third of six PRCC pitchers, took the loss. Zachary Boone, Trey Grice, Carlos Lott, Brock Roberts and Chandler Ray also pitched for the Wildcats.
The Bobcats are now 23-10 overall and 10-7 in the MACJC.
Pearl River falls to 9-24 and 3-14.
