DECATUR – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats from a 3-0 deficit and used a six-run, sixth inning to beat East Central 8-3 in game one of a doubleheader here Monday afternoon at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex.
East Central took a 3-0 lead in the fourth.
Kyle McCullouch led off with a single, stole second and took third on a groundout. Chance Witten then grounded to
Tyler Schankin, who threw the runner out at home plate. Hunter Thrower then walked and Dylan Snypes singled to score Witten.
Thrower scored on an error and Reagan Warren's double scored Snypes.
The Bobcats got a run back in the fifth when
Chris Richardson led off with a home run.
JCJC then took the lead in the sixth.
John Alan Wall was hit by a pitch,
Walt Prince walked and
Peyton Attaway followed with an RBI single. Richardson then walked to load the bases and Sasser followed with a single to tie the game.
Dylan Manichia's sacrifice fly to center scored Attaway and made it 4-3.
Carter Polles followed with an RBI single and
Mason Irby delivered a two-run double to center to give Jones a 7-3 lead.
The Bobcats added a run in the seventh. Prince was hit by a pitch and Richardson singled. Richardson was out trying to advance to second base, but Prince was able to score on the play.
Christian Dale, 4-1, went the distance and posted the win. He went nine innings, gave up three runs, seven hits, walked three and struck out three.
Richardson homered and singled for the Bobcats, while Irby doubled, singled and drove in two runs. Sasser, Manichia, Polles, Schankin and Attaway added singles.
Reagan Warren doubled and singled twice for the Warriors. Ben Cooley, Dylan Little, Kyle McCullouch and Snypes added singles.
Channing Wall was the starter and loser. He went 5 1/3 innings, allowed three runs, four hits, three walks and struck out one. Joshua Carpenter pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowed four runs, four hits and walked one. Lane Fazende pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up an unearned run, one hit, walked none and struck out two.
