ELLISVILLE – Meridian Community College's Josh Rich tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout as the Eagles posted an 8-0 decision over No. 11 Jones County Junior College in game two of a doubleheader here Saturday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
JCJC is now 14-4 overall, 1-1 in the MACJC. Meridian is 9-6, 1-1.
Rich scattered five hits and struck out three in gaining the win.
The game was scoreless until the fifth when the Eagles took a 2-0 lead.
Jaylon Keys led off with a single, was sacrificed to second by Dalton Smith and scored on Andrew Crock's single. Crock stole second and later scored on an error.
Meridian made it 6-0 in the sixth.
Michael Duran singled with one out, advanced on an error and scored on a single by Dalton Thomas. Goose Yates singled and Dalton Smith's single scored Thomas and Yates. Crock's single brought in Dalton Smith with the fourth run of the inning.
MCC added a pair of runs in the seventh.
Daniel Hill led off with a single, advanced on an error and scored on Duran's single. Duran took second on a wild pitch, went to third on an error and scored on a fielder's choice by Yates.
Tyler Schankin had two singles for the Bobcats.

Carter Polles, 0-1, was the starter and loser. He went five innings, allowed two runs (one earned), three hits, walked none and struck out two.
Will Simon pitched 2/3 of an inning, gave up three earned runs, three hits and struck out one.
Will Brand went 1/3 of an inning, allowed one run and three hits.
Tyler Schwaner pitched the final inning, allowed two runs (one earned), three hits, walked one and struck out one.
Duran, Thomas, Keys and Crock had two singles each for MCC, while Hill, Yates, Dalton Smith and Dustin Smith each singled.
The Bobcats will travel to East Central for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday, while Meridian goes to Hinds on Wednesday.
JCJC's next home game will be a 2 p.m. doubleheader on March 14 vs. East Mississippi.
