ELLISVILLE – Pinch-hitter
John Alan Wall's single to rightfield lifted 11
th-ranked Jones County Junior College to a 9-8 victory over Lawson State Community College (Alabama), giving the Bobcats a sweep of the doubleheader.
The Bobcats rallied from 3-0, 6-5 and 8-7 deficits in game two.
Trailing 8-7 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, JCJC's
Tyler Schankin drew a walk. He then advanced to third base on an errant pickoff throw. With one out,
Peyton Attaway drew a walk to put runners at first and third.

Wall, a freshman from Northwest Rankin, then came through with the game-winning single.
The Cougars had taken a 3-0 lead in the first inning when they put together six singles. LaDeavon Matthews, Lucas Hastings and Caleb Ledbetter had RBI singles in the inning.
JCJC got a run back in the bottom of the inning when
Chris Morgan walked and Sasser singled to put runners on first and third. Morgan would score on the front end of a double steal.
The Bobcats made it 3-2 in the second when
Carter Polles got a double on a popup on the infield that no Cougar touched. He scored on Attaway's RBI single.
Lawson State made it 4-2 in the third when Hastings reached on an error and later came home on a passed ball.
JCJC tied it in the bottom of the third when
Chris Richardson reached on an error and Morgan singled.
Dylan Manichia's single scored Richardson and Morgan later scored on a wild pitch.
The Bobcats took their first lead at 5-4 in the fourth when Attaway launched a one-out home run over the leftfield wall.
The Cougars came back and went ahead 6-5 in the sixth when Vines reached on an error and Matthews singled. Gentry Ford's RBI single scored Vines and Ledbetter's infield hit scored Matthews.
JCJC responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Richardson walked with one out, stole second and scored on Sasser's single. Sasser took second on the throw and scored on Manichia's third single of the game.
But the Cougars scored twice in the top of the seventh to take the lead again. Russell Phillips reached on an infield single and Mason Schoettlin replaced him as a pinch runner. After Christopher Cox singled, Ates came up to sacrifice.

Will Simon, who overthrew Manichia at third, allowing both runners to score.
But that set the stage for the Bobcat rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Manichia had three singles and two RBIs for the Bobcats, while Attaway homered, singled and drove in two runs. Polles doubled and singled, while Sasser singled twice. Morgan, Nettles, Irby and Wall added singles.
Simon, 1-0, pitched the seventh inning and got the win. He allowed two unearned runs, two hits, walked one and struck out three.
Will Brand pitched four innings of long relief, allowed an unearned run on two hits, walked one and struck out two.
Christian Dale pitched an inning and gave up two unearned runs and three hits. Starter
Chase Hensley went one-plus inning, giving up three runs, six hits and recording one strikeout.
Vines had three singles for Lawson State, while Matthews, Hastings and Ledbetter had two singles each. Ates, Ford, Falkinburg, Phillips and Cox added singles.
Hastings pitched the final 1/3 of an inning and took the loss. He gave up two runs, two hits and struck out one. Starter Nicholas DeSantis went four innings, gave up five runs (four earned), seven hits, walked none and struck out two. Dallas Oliver pitched two innings, gave up two runs, four hits, walked two and struck out three.
The Bobcats, 7-1, will host Mississippi Delta in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and Lincoln Trail Community College (Illinois) in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
Lawson State, 7-7, travels to Southwest Mississippi for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
