SCOOBA – J.C. Redden, Ryan Rigby and Ryder Davis combined on a three-hit shutout for East Mississippi as the Lions blanked No. 11 Jones County Junior College 8-0 in game two of a doubleheader here Tuesday afternoon at Gerald Poole Field.
JCJC won the opener, 4-2.
The Lions scored three runs in the third and five in the sixth.
Chase Hensley doubled for JCJC, while Chris Morgan and Caleb Ladner had singles.
Cody Mordecai was the starter and loser. He went 3 1/3 innings, allowed three runs (none earned), four hits, walked two and struck out two. Perry Turner pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two. TJ Hollis tossed 1/3 of an inning, allowed three runs, one hit and walked two. Avery Owens pitched to two batters and allowed two hits. Taylor Karr pitched 2/3 of an inning and walked one.
Redden went five innings, allowed no runs, two hits, walked four and struck out three. Rigby pitched an inning, allowed no hits and struck out one. Davis pitched the final inning, allowed no runs, one hit and struck out one.
JoVaughn McNabb doubled and singled twice for EMCC, while David Pimentel had a three-run home run. Corley Reynolds singled twice, while Andrew Crane had a double. Dylan Vuncannon and Lowell Haney added singles.
The Bobcats, 3-1, travel to Meridian on Saturday for two games. JCJC meets Jefferson College (Missouri) at 11 a.m. and Wallace State-Hanceville (Alabama) at 1:30 p.m.
The Lions, 3-3, face Southwestern State (Tennessee) and Dyersburg State (Tennessee) on Friday in Millington, Tennessee.
