ELLISVILLE – The No. 9 Jones College dominated in an 8-1 victory over No. 15 Mississippi Gulf Coast here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the MACCC.
The Bobcats, who have won 16 straight over the Bulldogs, were victorious in all of the doubles matches.
Heidi Clayton (New Albany) and
Theresa Emelio (Australia) beat Victoria Ros Fabuel and Isona Arnaus in No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
Camila Piquín (Argentina) and
Maria Martinez (Argentina) defeated Paige Baronich and Pia Pugliese in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Katlin Porcello (Oak Grove) and
Josie Tullos (Newton County) edged Meredith Matthews and Katelyn Walker in No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
Piquín beat Arnaus in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4 and Clayton whipped Pugliese in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Emelio defeated Baronich in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1 and Porcello shut out Walker in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Caroline Kilpatrick (Brookhaven) downed Rogers in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Martinez lost a close one to Ros Fabuel in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 4-6, 6-10.
Jones hosts No. 13 Coastal Alabama-South in the final match before spring break at 1 p.m. Thursday.
