CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After a 7-0 week, including sweeping Shelton State and five games at the JUCO Extravaganza at Choccolocco Park, Jones College has moved up to No. 2 in the NJCAA Week 1 Softball Poll.
The Bobcats were ranked fourth in the preseason poll.
Jones has posted five shutouts already this season and is currently riding a nine-game winning streak. They're also 4-1 against Top 25 competition.
Freshman
Chloe Jenkins and sophomore
Claire Andersen are hitting .474 and .471 to lead JC in batting average and freshman
Mary Kimble Price has a team-high six home runs and 25 RBIs.
Jenkins has a team-high eight doubles and Andersen leads NJCAA DII in stolen bases, swiping 25 of 28 bases. She's up to 63 career and chasing the all-time JC record of 85 set by Kelsha Loftin in 2017-18.
All five Bobcat pitchers have registered wins this year, including freshman
Madison Sawyer who is 6-0 with a team-best 2.08 ERA and 38 strikeouts.
Breelyn Cain and
Morgan Landry are both 4-1.
Jones returns to action on Wednesday at Coastal Alabama-South for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
