ELLISVILLE – Jones College head men's basketball coach Newton Mealer has announced the addition of Brandon Reeves to the Bobcat coaching staff ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Reeves arrives in Ellisville after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Southeastern Louisiana, where he worked in player development, opponent scouting, game preparation, video analysis and the day-to-day operations of the Lions' program.
During his time at Southeastern, Reeves worked closely with the guards and conducted individual skill-development workouts while coordinating scouting reports, preparing opponent personnel breakdowns and managing practice and game film. He also oversaw the program's student assistants and assisted with team operations.
In his first season on staff, Reeves helped Southeastern earn its third consecutive winning season and fifth straight appearance in the Southland Conference Championship Tournament.
The Lions also saw several players earn postseason recognition during Reeves' tenure. Garrett Shoemaker and CJ Booker were named to the 2025-26 Southland Conference All-Academic Team, while graduate senior Sam Hines Jr. earned First Team All-Southland Conference honors and was named the league's Newcomer of the Year and Jakevion Buckley also earned First Team All-Southland honors and was selected to the All-Defensive Team during Reeves' first season with the program.
Reeves additionally served as Director of Camp Operations, overseeing the planning, organization and daily execution of the David Kiefer Basketball Camps.
Prior to his time at SLU, the Brandon native spent four years as the head student assistant with the Southern Miss men's basketball program under former Jones head coach and NJCAA national champion Jay Ladner.
While at Southern Miss, Reeves also worked alongside current Troy assistant coach Kyle Roane during the Golden Eagles' historic 2022-23 season. Southern Miss improved from 7-26 the previous year to 25-6, producing the second-largest single-season win improvement in NCAA history and capturing the Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship.
Reeves earned his bachelor's degree in sports coaching with a minor in sports management from Southern Miss in 2024.
Jones College has won three consecutive NJCAA Region 23 championships and opens the season Tuesday, Nov. 3 against Marion Military.
