EMCC 16, Jones 11
Five Lions had three hits each to win a slugfest in the opening game of the day.
Jones fell behind 4-0 after one but rallied to tie the game at 4-4 after a bases-clearing double for
Gage Reeves in the second and solo homer for
TJ Dunsford in the third.
The Bobcats took their only lead in the fifth, 7-5, with a Dunsford RBI-single,
Cole Manuel sac fly and
Chase Russell RBI-single.
But the Lions immediately responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth off Jones' top middle reliever,
Micah Daniell, and would finish with a season-high 16 runs.
Trailing 16-9 in the ninth, Jones put up a late fight and got the tying run in the on deck circle. Reeves' RBI-single scored one and
Evan Rogers' RBI-triple made it 16-11. After loading the bases, a fly out ended the threat.
Reeves and Dunsford had six of Jones' 13 hits.
EMCC 3, Jones 1
Trace Tingle and
Drew Lambert went toe-to-toe on the mound, with Tingle getting the better of the Bobcats by striking out seven and allowing only an unearned run in a complete game.
Gabe Roberts' two-run double gave EMCC a 2-0 lead in the second.
The Bobcats cut the lead in half in the fifth thanks to a failed pickoff attempt that allowed
Talan Theriot to score.
Hugh LeMasters' RBI-single got the run back in the bottom half for EMCC.
Lambert scattered three runs on five hits over 5.1 innings. Bobcat pitching would walk eight against one for Tingle.
