ELLISVILLE – Soon to be two-time All-American forward
Sherline King inked with Oklahoma State this week to continue her soccer career.
"We are all extremely proud for Sherline to have this opportunity," head coach
Dolores Deasley said. "OSU is not only getting a phenomenal and special player, but an even better person. She deserves all the good things that come her way."
The decorated player from Panama City, Panama, is the 11th Division I signee in five seasons for Deasley's Bobcats and second Power 4 conference player along with Celine Ottah at Pittsburgh.
King is on the verge of breaking Jones' all-time goals record, needing one to tie Kelly Stubbington's 49 and two to hold the all-time record outright.
King leads the Bobcats in goals (23), assists (eight), points (54) and game-winners (six) this season with a .649 shot-on-goal percentage.
As a freshman, King led the MACCC in goals (25) and points (60) as both a United Soccer Coaches All-American and NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. She was also named NJCAA All-Region 23 and First Team All-MACCC and a four-time MACCC Player of the Week selection.
"We will miss her here in Ellisville, but she will always be a part of the great Bobcat family," Deasley continued. "We can't wait to see her thrive on the big stage for OSU."
King played for head coach Raiza Gutiérrez at Instituto nacional de Panamá where she was a champion with several teams in her country, such as Universitario, Plaza, Tauro and Santa Fe.
King is a current member of the Panamanian women's national team and has played in many important tournaments internationally.
