WESSON – A five-run fifth inning helped the No. 12 Jones College Bobcats defeat Copiah-Lincoln 11-7 in game one of a doubleheader here Sunday afternoon.
In game two, a final inning Bobcat rally came up just short as the Wolves prevailed, 7-6.
Jones, 6-6, will travel to Raymond to meet Hinds in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday. The Bobcats begin official MACCC play with a 2 p.m. home twinbill on Feb. 27 vs. Itawamba. Those games will air on JCJC.TV.
Co-Lin, 3-5, goes to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
Game 1 – Jones 11, Co-Lin 7
Trailing 6-5, the Bobcats put up five runs to take a 10-5 lead in the fifth.

Murray Hutchinson (Madison Central) single scored
Brady Spring (Brookhaven Academy) to tie the game and
Hunter French's (DeSoto Central) RBI single gave the Bobcats the lead for good.
DeeJay Booth (Oak Grove) had a double and a single for the Bobcats with Hutchinson and
Preston Ratliff (Slidell, Louisiana) adding two singles each.
Colby Tubre (D'Iberville) – the third of five Bobcat pitchers – got the win, improving to 1-1. He tossed 3.1 innings, allowing one run, three hits and recording four strikeouts.
Garrett Langrell (Bay) pitched the final .2 innings and got a strikeout to earn his first save.
The Wolves got home runs from Marquez Hudson,
Hunter Richardson, Cade Lowery and Kenner Bizot.
Lance Eisen pitched .1 inning, allowed three runs and was tagged with the loss.
Game 2 – Co-Lin 7, Jones 6
Jones was down 7-3 entering the top of the seventh inning.
Hutchinson led off with a walk, Booth singled and Ratliff launched a three-run home run to left.
After a line out, Spring was hit by a pitch to put the tying run on base. But a 5-4-3 double play ended the game.
Ratliff homered, singled and drove in four runs. Hutchinson doubled and singled with Booth and
Colson Harris (West Jones) adding two singles.
Starter
Dylan Fontan (St. Patrick) went 2.0 innings and took the loss. He allowed six runs (two earned) and five hits.
Starter Jacob Spinks went 4.2 innings and was credited with the win, giving up three runs on six hits.
Braydon Muse homered for Co-Lin and Bizot had two singles.
